What is Mintec Peppermint Oil 0.2 ml?

Mintec is a gastro-resistant peppermint oil capsule used to relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Each capsule contains 0.2 ml of peppermint oil. It helps with abdominal cramps, bloating, trapped wind, and bowel discomfort.

How Does Mintec Work?

Peppermint oil has a natural antispasmodic effect. It relaxes the smooth muscles in the bowel, reducing spasms that cause pain and cramping. The gastro-resistant capsule coating ensures the oil is released in the intestine, not the stomach, helping target symptoms directly where they occur.

Symptoms of IBS

IBS symptoms vary but often include:

Abdominal cramps or stomach pain
Bloating and excess wind
Diarrhoea, constipation, or both
Urgency to pass stool
These symptoms can be triggered by stress, certain foods, or hormonal changes and can flare up unpredictably.

Are allergic to peppermint oil or menthol

Can Mintec Peppermint Oil Capsules Be Purchased Over the Counter?

Yes. In the UK, Mintec is available without a prescription from pharmacies. A pharmacist will check your symptoms to make sure it is suitable for you before supply.

• The usual adult dose is one capsule taken 3 times daily, 30 minutes before meals.
• In severe cases, the dose may be increased to two capsules up to 3 times daily.
• Swallow the capsules whole with water. Do not chew or break them, as this may cause irritation in the mouth and throat.
